GLADWIN – Brittany Roggow says that eventually she would like to join the Peace Corps and work in underdeveloped nations. The adventure she embarks on Thursday, then, might be considered a test run.

The Alma College sophomore pre-med major is headed out to a hospital in Sierra Leone through Posey Global, where she will have the chance to work for a month this summer. Roggow, along with three other students, will work at the 200-bed hospital, which has a maternity ward, a surgical theater, and even a therapeutic feeding center for malnourished children under five, where Roggow says she will likely spend much of her time. Although it will be good experience, it will not come without its share of difficulties – mainly by being witness to the heartbreak of extreme poverty in a third world country.
